Wednesday, 14/1/15 – The 13th day of the Europe ski tour and todays plan is to ski Warth, and adjacent village to Lech and only included in the Arlberg ski area last year with the construction of a link gondola.  It is just a short 50 m walk to the Oberlech lift then two more lifts to get there.  Paula & Amanda were going to look after Mel today who is still a bit tentative on skis ( made the change from her board and took a lesson and practiced by herself yesterday.)

A group of 11 went to Warth in snow & fog, and it did not look too inviting.  However, when we got the Auenfeldjet link lift up to Warth, the weather cleared and the skiing was good.  Meanwhile, Mel skied with Paula & Amanda on the Oberlech Lift and part of ski piste 62.

During lunch, the weather came in and snow started dumping heavily – At Warth, it really closed in and we could not see so we went back to Lech – skiing back to the Auenfeldjet gondola was by feel alone as it was a total white out – nearly lost David & Ning.  There were just enough piste markers to get to the next and eventually the gondola.  So we caught the same link Gondola back to Lech where visibility was good (still overcast but no a white out) and  Lech was again excellent with fresh powder.  We managed to make some fresh tracks on the edges of the pistes.

Evening time and room hat party – it was a huge success with great hats, and the conversation volume was right up there – lots of laughter.  The finalists for the prize were Deanne ( toilet roll under hat), Alan ( bling hat ), Harry with toilet roll and tear off strips, Melinda for glamour hat, David for noodle hat, but winner was Adam for triple thong hat. Prize was Swiss thermos that we bought last week in Davos.

Then the thong presentation and awarded to Mel for being a tough lady and trying her hardest to tame the skiing monster.

Dinner in our crazy hats had all the other hotel guests looking, especially the other Australians.  Then of course, Harry stood out again – he was requesting songs from the accordion player while he was still playing.  He stopped playing and reminded Harry that he was an artist and could not play and talk at he same time!
