Monday 5/1/15 – Europe ski holiday day 4 and peering outside at 7:00 before sunrise, the weather looks like it will be a fine day – not as cold as yesterday – a small dusting of snow last night – todays plan is to ski at Parsenn, a short bus trip to the other side of town at Davos Dorf and leave on the 8:46 bus.
After Alan did his morning laps in the indoor pool, and a buffet breakfast from which you will never leave hungry, the whole group made it to Parsenn except Adam who took his friends to Jakhobshorn.
Brent and Paula
Cable rail to mid mountain, then chairlift to the top and plenty of powder still to be found. First run and Brent dropped into powder bowl and off he went. Happy as a pig in mud exploring the powder bowls and ungroomed slopes. The rest of us cruised the pistes. Two days in a row now Paula was having glove problems – yesterday two gloves the same, today, turned her glove inside out and could not get it back again.
Skiing was brilliant – sunshine, not too busy, plenty of snow cover and all were having a hoot.
Took the long run to Schiffer (a 1 Km vertical) and trying to load onto the bubble lift, Rod could not get through – he lost his ski pass, presumably when he took his sunnies out of his pocket. So, leaving the group in the capable hands of Paula & Amanda, Rod & Allan returned to Davos, back to the hotel to retrieve the receipt and cancelled his pass and got a replacement pass issued – We then quickly returned to Parsenn and met up with the rest of the crew at lunch who were very successfully led by BB1 Paula & BB2 Amanda but there was a power battle headed by PP (power pussy) Paul.
Brent also appeared at lunch with a grin from ear to ear after his morning in the powder.
At the end of a full days skiing, Rod plus a few others stopped for an après ski drink at a hotel near the Parsenn lift – they came back and introduced to the rest of the crew a “shoobly doobly” or schumley pfumley – a cocktail of coffee, pfumley (schnapps) and cream.
Thong nominees were Ning for nearly hitting her head when getting up from breakfast table, Alan for losing the group, Daniel (who was supposed to be skiing with Adam) for hooking up with two Scandinavian ladies on slope, but the winner today was obviously Rodney for a lost ski pass.
