Wednesday 7/1/15 – looks like another fine day coming up – the plan is to go to Parsenn and then ski Klosters via the 12 k run to from top of Parson to Klosters.  We may even try Madrissa if conditions look good on our way to ski Klosters.  Madrissa is a south facing ski area and could be a bit problematic.

Ski Klosters

Beginning of run to Klosters

However, today turned out to be a fantastic day – After breakfast, the bus trip to Parsenne, the cable rail to mid mountain then the chair to the top, a quick leg warmer down front face of Parsenne back to mid station, to take advantage of perfectly groomed slopes before they get chopped up – magic.  Then chair to the top, and many group members expressed interest is doing the black run down from Weissfluhgipfel…  so another quick run leg burner, this time to the bottom of the chair at Parsennhutte to get this chair back up to the linking cable car to Weissfluhgipfel. Paula followed Brent in his tracks and looked fantastic.  The young exuberant Hamish was trying his downhill tucks, and  Brent and I tried to curb this technique on open piste, but if he was going to do it use the correct tuck position.

From Weissfluhgipfel, Brent, exploring some of the ungroomed terrain lost his ski again (brand new pair, only 4 days old) and took him about 20 minutes to find it.

We finally got onto the long run to ski Klosters.  It was a bit icy in patches, but well covered and the entire crew enjoyed it.  Snow conditions were good, so we decided to cross the valely and go to Madrissa.

Ski Klosters

Only Estours Skiers at Madrissa

At Klosters, we walked under the rail line and caught the free town bus to the Madrissa lift and what a bonus this area turned out to be.  Madrissa (like Rinerhorn the other day) was basically empty and we had it all to ourselves – open piste with just us on it, skied straight on and had a fantastic day cruising.

Lunch was at a new restaurant on slope where all waiters were dressed in traditional Swiss attire, serving brilliant food – everyone thought this was excellent, one of the best days ever soaking up the sunshine, uncrowded slopes and the traditional Swiss ambience.  A few more runs after lunch, the long ski back to the bus stop, bus ride back to the train station and we decided to take the (free) train back to Davos Platz.  What better way to finish this day than a beer at the bottom pub next to the river as the sun went down.

For the thong today, nominees were Lachlan for not boarding but worried about his girlfriend back home, Brent for losing his ski again, Tom for not writing his name in the snow even with a very full bladder, but winner was Paul for grabbing his drink from the waiters tray at lunch time while he was trying to serve ladies first.
